Academic IELTS Writing (60 Mins)

There are two writing tasks and BOTH must be completed.
 
In task 1, you are required to describe some visual information such as a bar chart, line graph, chart or diagram. You need to write at least 150 words. 

In task 2, you have to respond to an argument and write a short essay (at least 250 words)  in response. It should include an introduction, 2 or 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion
 
Generally the topics for task 2 are a little more difficult than for general IELTS. 

General IELTS Writing (60 Mins) 

There are two writing tasks and BOTH must be completed.

In task 1, you are asked to respond to a situation in the form of a letter. The letter should be informal, semi-formal or formal in style depending on the situation. 

In task 2, you are required to respond to an argument and write a short essay (at least 250 words) in response. It should include an introduction, 2 or 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion. 

Generally the topics are a little easier and are focused on work, education or everyday topics.
